proof
in two words - fucking great.
jacqueline mckenzie is a revelation. she was always great on screen but she's fucking great on stage. the rest of the cast - barry otto, jonny pasvolsky, christina eliason - were also excellent. george ogilvie's direction was strong (though it would be hard to be bad with that cast and script). tony tripp's three-dimension stage was symbolic, functional and interesting.
auburn's story and themes weren't anything new - the line between genius and insanity and the shadows our parents cast - and his story points were a little contrived at points, but his whippersnapper dialogue energised the stage and his digs at academia and mathematics was entertaining. in the end, it worked - proof was emotional and intriguing and fun and you really can't ask for much more than that.
worked a bit on the indian down under commercial, chopping all the scans into little bits of cinematic goodness. its going to take a bit of work but it'll come up trumps. it reminds me of a saying: linux is only free if your time is worth nothing. well, low budget filmmaking is only low budget if your time is worth fuck all.
