law as applied to films.

Found a quote about lawyers which I think applies to filmmakers (of all persuasions):

"A lawyer without history or literature is a mechanic, a mere working mason; if he possesses some knowledge of these, he may venture to call himself an architect" -- Pleydell in Sir Walter Scott, Guy Mannering Ch 37

Although, in my formulation it would be:

"A director without history or literature is a mechanic, but if he possesses knowledge of these he may become an architect"

I heartily encourage you to use my formulation and attribute it to me, so I can take credit over Scott's counsellor.

Word.
