... the show's writers consistently sacrifice the integrity of their characters, their plots, and their invented universe to the Moloch of political allegory. That they are so enchanted by the notion of being seen to ask 'tough questions' that they willingly resort to the most embarrassing sort of contrivance in order to arrive at those questions, which only serves to bleed them of their immediacy.

[...]

allegedly dark and edgy story elements for which the quality of his show has been sacrificed are so goddamn half-hearted and lily-livered that makes me quiver with rage.

-- Abigail Nussbaum on the two-part opening for BSG Season 3

Worth reading and keeping in mind that Abigail lives in Israel - her experience of suicide bombing is painfully real. (Her back catalogue of writing is worth reading)

My own comments will appear on her site rather than here.

So I returned to work today. While its lovely to remember that I work with lovely people, the whole working part will take some time to get used to. I'm not working on a new feature yet (next year likely) - instead, I'm going to managing a plethora of projects whose payoff will be more encyclopedic. The company has also be trying this radical new idea, I think they call it the "8 hour working day". I keep on thinking they've left off a 1.

Last Friday, I went to an exhibition called "Construct" at Marktronicseses China Height's Gallery. I bought my first piece of sculpture, I'm so proud and cultured. Really, its a sweet tangerine freaking robot made of wood. Its dope. Props to Doe, Robert and Deepchild.

Speaking of props, did anyone else notice just how much Bliss'n'Eso sold out? We're talking like T1, T2 and T3 combined like selling out. Like I'm not sure if they could sold out more, like even if they hired Bob Rock. Like.
